Back-to-School Information

As we look forward to the beginning of a new school year, there are several items we wanted you to know about.

COVID: Current guidelines are that masks are recommended but not required. Each family can decide if their child needs to wear a mask or not based on their personal health situation. If these guidelines change from our local or State health officials, we will respond accordingly. We will continue to sanitize our buildings regularly and encourage students to sanitize often and to stay home if they are ill to reduce the spread of illness at school. Additionally, we will quarantine students who test positive for COVID and do contact tracing as we have done in the past in cooperation with the the Davis County Health Department.

Syracuse Arts Academy will be using ESSR III funds awarded by the state in the following ways:

20% of the funds will be used to address student learning and accelerate student achievement to regain ground lost in learning.

80% of funds may be used to upgrade wireless technology, technology devices, equipment, and services to ensure the health and safety of students.

If you would like to provide feedback on the plan, please contact Dale Pfister (

ESSR III plan will be posted here once approved.

Distance Learning: We are currently not planning to offer Distance Learning for the 2021-2022 school year. Our experience has been that students learn better in an in-person classroom setting. If students do experience illness or absences, teachers will work with those individual students to help them complete their learning through our Canvas platform and through other communication to families.

August 12 Back-to-School Night: Each school will be sending out their plans for this night. Watch for that in your emails.

School Schedule: We are planning to follow the school calendar posted on our website. Specifically, we will hold school in person for a half day on Friday like we did before the COVID adjustment last school year.

Antelope Campus construction and new carpool route: The construction at Antelope Campus is progressing well. The new "Ring Road" is almost complete. The Antelope administration will be sending out some detailed graphics and instructions on the new traffic pattern. We were hoping to lay sod this fall to complete the soccer and baseball fields. However, due to water shortages, this will most likely not happen. Our next best opportunity will be early spring. We will keep you posted on that situation. The expanded parking lot is complete and can be used by both staff and parents.

West Davis Corridor and Antelope Drive Construction: There will be  ongoing construction projects for the next three years as UDOT and Farmington Bay Constructors complete the widening of Antelope Drive and build the new West Davis Corridor. You can find up-to-date information at

Please know how grateful we are for all of you. You are what makes our school so wonderful. Let's have a great school year and prepare these precious children for a bright future.
