Guidelines for Indoor Recess

The decision to keep our students indoors is made based on a site evaluation of the conditions at the facility by the School Principal for both Winter Conditions and Air Quality.

Winter Conditions

SAA site administrators may call for indoor recess when the following conditions occur:

  • temperature falls below 20 degrees Fahrenheit
  • wind, rain, freezing rain, snow, sleet, hail 
  • conditions of the playground
  • Blacktop condition
  • Ice build up
  • Snow build up
  • Ice and snow build up on playground equipment

Air Quality

When the air quality becomes bad, SAA site administrators will refer to the guidelines on the chart below.
